Comming Soon- Master Collectables WJ Kit

Thanks to Jaf, I've just received my "Classic Science Engineer Conversion kit". I'll be writing my full review over the course of the coming week, but I'm already extremely impressed by the packaging and instructions. I consider myself lucky when a garage kit comes with written materials that are actually in English, let alone full color and shipped in a smart little plastic project box. The down side is that not five minutes out of the box, I managed to snap a part clean in half. This was due more to my man-handling than any problem with the part. Thankfully the kit has been cast in a resin that LOVES Krazy Glue so no sweat there. More exciting news to come as I sacrifice my only Classics Sideswipe for this project. Stay tuned.

Why not try and order some extra Sideswipes or Sunstreakers instead of sacrificing your only model?

Thanks for the drum roll Zi. Tramp- I was going to spend a week hunting down another lambo mold, but I can just go ahead with the one I have and then round up a replacement later if I care enough. The fact is, I've never been thrilled with Classics Sideswipe. I can't quite nail it down. Something about his general attitude maybe. In any event, the end result is the same, and this way I can get down to business faster. But if you'd like to read a weeks worth of blog about how I'm really close to nabbing a figure on ebay, I can make that happen in a future column. I'm starting the photo shoot today. My first impressions of kit are generally positive. I broke the center spoiler again, so that part is a concern. I had to fiddle with it for a while to see how it goes on. The picture in the instructions is a little small and sketchy on that matter, and contrary to what the sheet told me, there is nothing on the MC site to clear it up. I figured it out though. You'll see what I'm talking about tomorrow. Same Science Engineer time, same Science Engineer channel. I'll have scans up of the paperwork just as soon as I can round up the drivers for my scanner.

My center spoiker was broken out of box.. I tried to glue it once and it broke.. So it's definitely very delicate! I'm definitely interested in seeing how your experience differs than mine! :)

I always buy a double specifically for kitbashing into a new character. I never take the only one I have. The only thing I'll ever do with a figure i only have one of is improve the paint job to make it more accurate, as I did with RotF Optimus Prime (Leader class) and Megatron (Voyager class). For example, I have Animated Black Arachnia, and have an Idea for another kitbash using that model, but I won't being it unless I can get another Animated Black Arachnia.

I hear ya Dave. i used to do that, but it just started to feel like hoarding. I don't want to become a hoarder, and not to mention it would just hold up my bashing if i had to wait to find a spare for something i wanted to bash now. Not to mention, when cash is sparse, buying doubles just seems foolish, IMO...

I more buy the toy to collect, then after it sits on my shelf for long enough I go.. hey that would look good as......... And then off I go to figure something out.. hah. And I order the second one (because I can't bare to see my classics collection or whatever get sparse). Plus I don't trust my own skills enough to know the first attempt is going to work out. :)

I don't buy two of a figure "just in case". If I have a figure, and later come up with an idea for a custom where I need that figure, I'll go out and then buy a second (or third, if I need the same base figure for different bashes) for the bash rather than sacrifice the only figure of that mold I have.

I get you Tramp. I only sacrifice a figure if I'm tired of looking at it. I'm agonizing over a project that I want to use my Classics Inferno for, but I really love him and don't want to mess him up. MP- I obviously didn't get those pics up, but I do have them. It's coming along well. I'm painting him now. I was originally going to pass him off to someone else to paint, but I just went ahead with it. I'm aiming to have the full review up by the end of the week. I had to come up with a fix for the lack of locking torso bits that the solid front spoiler caused. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. More soon. For real this time.
