G1 Jetfire/Skyfire Tetrajet

So here's the latest addition to my line of Tetrajets, Jetfire. Right now I'm working on some harder stuff, but I'm still doing the jets on the side to keep the line going. It started as Cybertron Starscream Supreme, and finished as the biggest and sharpest jet I've done yet I think. Jetfire has 3 modes: Robot, jet and Mecha-mode! I believe when Jetfire entered earth's atomosphere from space during exploration, he would've actually still been in his Cybertronian-Tetrajet form, not an earth-jet...but I still gave his numbered designation "VF-1" to tribute the original toy which was modeled after the Valkylrie-Fighter 1 military jet. I also implemented his original G1 boosters into both modes, as optional features, which can be displayed in multiple ways in both modes, or can be taken off completely. I gave him a ball-jointed head, and modified the head to resemble Jetfire's and get away from the Starscream-look. I added a second barrel to his gun and added a peg to the bottom so you can pop the gun off and have him actually hold the gun in his hand. It all worked out, and you can comfortably wedge the boosters between his wings in the back to resemble the G1 booster pack from the cartoon. He's now up for sale on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140392700341&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

Definitely some nice work. One thing though. At least canonically, Jetfire was never a tetrajet. His Cybertronian alternate mode was a reverse swept wing supersonic bomber type. In the cartoon, he never took an Earth alternate mode. What you saw in the show was his original Cybertronian alternate mode. And his Stormbringer design (based upon his Classics mold) is his Cybertronian mode. His current Earth mode is a B1 bomber. Regardless, your craftsmanship is excellent.

Thanks man, yeah, the Titanium mold was the closest thing I found to anything being close to an alien-like Cybertron mode that looked different than an earth seeker. I thought it would be cool to have a good-guy Tetrajet in there to break the monotony, I actually thought of doing a Powerglide. :gasp ...but I'm pretty sure Skywarp's next....

Yeah. I'd do Skywarp. Powerglide is in the same boat as Jetfire. His Cybertronian mode was never a tetrajet either. There's another brief shot of him in vehicle mode in War Within as well. It too is reverse swept winged, but not as long or sleek. It's on page 17 of chapter 2.

I love this gorgeous work. He is awesome I personally can't see why JF couldn't have been a tetrajet at some point in time, I mean there are huge continuity errors throughout the original G1 series (ie when JF went down on earth whilst surveying the planet millions of years before mankind, although he was in his Cybertronian mode, his partner Starscream was in in his earth alt jet mode!?!?!)
Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear the lamentations of the women.

KB, Sweet work on this. I love your Tetrajet line. before he goes, maybe you can balance him in some styrofoam, put some plexiglass in front of it, with a hole so the nose can poke through, for a cool li'l cartoon accurate screen shot.

I actually thought at one time of buying some translucent blue wrapping paper and building a huge chunk of ice with a wire frame on the inside, to surround him, like they found him in the toon! I may end up pulling that off and taking pics before I sell him...

Very cool work as always Shane. I would have loved to have seen Jetfire next to the Botcon Shattered Glass Starscream.

Everything on this build is 100% awsome. The head totally suits him. Really cool to see Skyfire with Cybertronian seeker roots.

I thought I'd mix it up a little and make a good guy jet for a change. I'm doing a Skywarp next, but I'm gonna do some different stuff other than the jets for a while to break the monotony, don't wanna wear the concept out....plus, I got Botcon to prepare for too.

Very cool. It invokes a SG Starscream feel to me. Just on a much more awesome level.

Thanks NP, a few people said the same thing about the SG similiarities....and as a matter of fact, nobody's noticed it yet, but I kept his Decepticon logos in 'bot mode and gave him Autobot symbols in jet mode. :bot:con
